Shadow Gods Slots

You may well ask. We know that plenty of online slot games delve into mythical gods in all cultures. So, where will we find ourselves when we check out this slot game about the Shadow Gods?

We'll reveal that soon enough, but we can confirm upfront that this slot has striking features, glorious colors, and plenty of neat elements rolled into one game. Get ready for a tempting experience.

Which collection is this game part of?

Plenty of developers have a strong back catalog of slots for players to check out. In this case, you'll find Shadow Gods inside the RTG collection of games.

You can try it first to see what you think

We always approve of a demo game, and that is supplied for us here. You can meet the gods without risk.

Where do those gods hail from?

If you were thinking about ancient Egypt as a potential source, you got it right. The gods are known as Horus and Anubis, and each of them has an important role to play in this Egyptian-themed slot.

Expect the finest design elements here

We were amazed when we first saw this game. It truly does look impressive. The colors are so sharp, you'd think those gods were real. There is a lot of detail everywhere you look, bringing this game into sharp focus for you.

How to begin play: The Shadow Gods game

The standard five-by-three format is in use here. There are no jackpots around, so the paytable reveals what you could get for winning combinations.

Those two gods of the title are used as wild symbols. Each is restricted to one reel, but they are fantastic to see in action. Horus occupies the second reel while Anubis occupies the fourth. Both can appear on the same spin if things spin your way. The best bit is that they're both designed as 3 x 1 icons, i.e. standing tall on the entire reel. And if only part of a god appears when the reels stop, they are nudged to make sure they always stand on the whole thing.

If there are two wilds in play, does that mean we are bereft of a scatter? No, as the pharaoh's mask takes on that role. You can also spot gold coins on the reels. RTG uses those for another purpose, as you'll see later in our review.

Shadow Gods payline quantities

The creators have shoehorned 50 lines into this game, so it is a promising one to check out if you like playing on lots of lines.

Get ready for a bigger line bet though

The minimum here is four cents rather than just one, so that makes this a two-dollar slot game at the absolute minimum. You can also find other coins available to play with, but if the $2 minimum is too rich for your budget, you can still try the practice version just for the sake of playing it for entertainment.

The paytable supplies all the rules

If you are in any doubt about any of the features of this game, you can learn more simply by reading through the table first. We strongly suggest you do this if you've never played Shadow Gods before.

The bonus feature involves the gold coins

You need six in a base game spin to make the coins freeze and receive three respins. The idea is to get as many coins onto the reels as you can during this feature. Whenever you find more coins appearing on a respin, you reset to the original three respins again. This continues until one of two things occurs:

1. Each of the 15 available reel positions has a coin in it - you'd receive the Grand Prize if you do this 2. You get just the original six coins or anywhere up to 14 coins - you'd receive a prize as per the quantity of coins found

Free spins also appear in Shadow Gods

Most slots go for one or the other in terms of free spins or respins, but in this game we get both. You can play six free spins in one of two ways here:

1. Treasure Spins - the fifth reel contains three gold coins for all six spins, so you need to get another three to unlock the bonus round and the respins 2. Expanded wilds - the two expanded wild gods appear on reels two and four throughout the six spins

Both options give you a chance to unlock more freebies with another three scatters - the original trigger for the free games as well. A good reason to watch for the pharaoh's mask to appear!

RTP information

In common with other Realtime Gaming slots, no return to player information is supplied with this title.

Our rating: How well does Shadow Gods stack up?

This is a superb game. We love the mix of respins and free spins here, especially as there are two ways to play the free games. Even though you only get six in each case, you can still expect some promising action whichever way you play them. We're rating this as 9.5 points out of 10 - a huge score. If it had been in 3D, we would have given it top marks.

How much is available in prizes?

There are lots of prizes displayed in the paytable, but RTG says that the best prize could be up to 50,000x your wager on one spin. We suspect that two expanded wilds could help trigger something along those lines, don't you?

Playing for entertainment

The high minimum bet with this game does suggest that some might only play for demo purposes. It's good to see an option just to enjoy the game though, even if it is way out of your budget.

Make sure you do have a budget to play for real

We know that Shadow Gods is only going to appeal to a section of players. If you are among them - or you believe you are - make sure you assess your budget before you start.
